Ensuring a steady supply of qualified physicians into the region's workforce will have impact on every Oregonian and it is core to the mission of The Foundation For Medical Excellence.  To effectively assist OHSU with this challenge, TFME has established The Oregon Medical Education Student Scholarship Endowment Fund.  Gifts to this special fund will be used exclusively to financially assist OHSU medical students through direct scholarship support. This support will help to reduce a portion of the high cost of medical education and, in turn, help to ensure a steady and growing pipeline of matriculating students into Oregon's physician workforce.

A goal of raising more than $2 million has been established that will generate approximately $100,000 in annual scholarship support through individual scholarship awards of $5,000 to each deserving student.

TFME's scholarship program has been developed to enrich the health care delivery system of the State of Oregon at several levels.  At its most fundamental level, it was created as a charitable act to help ease the increasing financial burden on medical students and to ensure future adequate staffing levels among Oregon's physician workforce.

The Oregon Medical Education Student Scholarship Endowment Fund will provide the gift of educational excellence to a new generation of physicians. It will help to transform lives and someday save lives.  It is an investment in the future quality of Oregon's health care.  A separate fund has been created to honor outstanding Graduate Medical Education Residents as well.
